Jennifer,
I wish I could have used all the photos you submitted to the Compass for the Jones Farm piece. It was hard to turn them down, but of course, economics reared its gnarliness.
I was gratified to read your description of the happy chickens and the affectionate Barry Jones. Thanks for writing about your experience at the farm. I was glad, btw, that you included a photo of the real-live range where the chickens roam.
One question that we didn’t answer in our story and that I don’t find in your post is: Where do the chickens lay their eggs? Indoors and out on the range?
It must have been fun interacting with so many personalties who were probably pleased for the adventure of your visit.

Thanks for reading and for your comments, Katherine! It was a fun assignment to do. Barry was very accommodating and his farm was impressive to visit, especially the ingenuity of creating almost every building from recycled and re-purposed materials. From the looks of it, it seems that the hens lay eggs inside the largest barn on his property, nearest the fenced in pen, where they also sleep at night.
